Così fan tutte

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

It is only in the 20th century that Così fan tutte took ist rightful place as one of the greatest operatic achievements of all time. A profound admirer of the work, René Jacobs set out to recreate the spirit in which it was first performed in 1790, which required extensive work with the singers, on the recitative, and on the orchestra itself. The result is a performance of stupefying dynamism and poetry which won the most prestigious international prizes on ist first release in 1999.
